Dobot and Tencent Cloud Deepen Strategic Partnership to Accelerate the Industrialization of Humanoid Robots

On May 12, 2025, Shenzhen-based Dobot (Shenzhen Yuejiang Technology Co., Ltd.) and Tencent Cloud Computing (Beijing) Co., Ltd. signed an enhanced strategic cooperation agreement in Shenzhen. The two companies will focus on advancing the development, application, and industrial innovation of embodied intelligence and humanoid robotics, working together to scale these technologies from research labs to widespread use in industrial, commercial, and household settings.

A Leader in Collaborative Robotics

As China’s first publicly listed collaborative robot company, Dobot had shipped over 80,000 robots globally by the end of 2024—ranking first domestically. Its success reflects the company’s ability to bring embodied intelligence and humanoid robots from the lab into mass production, unlocking a trillion-yuan market. Dobot’s robotic solutions have served over 80 Fortune Global 500 companies across more than 100 countries and regions, powering the intelligent upgrade of global manufacturing.

Rising from “Robot Valley”

Founded in 2015 in Shenzhen’s “Robot Valley,” Dobot began as a startup in a shared workspace at the Sino Science Makerspace. Over five office relocations, the company rapidly evolved into a national robotics leader. In its early days, Dobot’s founding team could source custom parts from local factories within a day, helping it swiftly develop its first-generation desktop robotic arm—a product that filled a major market gap.

Dobot raised over $600,000 on international crowdfunding platforms and received more than 1,000 preorders, affirming its commitment to independent R&D.

Today, Dobot has achieved full-stack in-house development across hardware platforms, software systems, core algorithms, and intelligent control. The company boasts over 90% self-developed key components and a 100% domestic substitution rate, with notable breakthroughs in safety, AI, machine learning, and autonomous operations.

Industry-Leading Safety and Innovation

Dobot is the sole global provider of a mass-produced wearable flexible electronic skin for robots—SafeSkin—which allows arms to detect humans or objects up to 15 cm away and avoid collisions. This technology, validated by the China Machinery Industry Federation, has reached internationally advanced standards.

The company is a leading contributor to China’s national intelligent robotics initiatives and a co-author of industrial robotics standards. Dobot’s collaborative robots are already used across more than 15 industries and 200+ application scenarios, including automotive, electronics, lithium battery, food and beverage, retail, medical, and agriculture.

Whether in pick-and-place, palletizing, machine tending, inspection, assembly, dispensing, welding, grinding, or even making tea, coffee, and physical therapy, Dobot delivers intelligent, safe, and efficient automation solutions.

Expanding into Humanoid Robotics

With a decade of accumulated expertise in collaborative robotics, Dobot is now leveraging its capabilities to push into embodied intelligence and humanoid robotics. CEO Leo Liu Peichao stated that “the widespread adoption of AI will drive greater demand for collaborative robots across diverse scenarios.”

In April 2024, Dobot launched the X-Trainer, an embodied intelligent robot now deployed by major manufacturers like BYD, Luxshare Precision, and Chuangyuan. The robot features high-speed data collection, ultra-low latency, and exceptional learning capabilities, accelerating AI implementation across verticals.

In March 2025, Dobot unveiled Dobot Atom, the world’s first full-sized humanoid robot capable of both dexterous manipulation and straight-knee walking. Standing 1.53 meters tall and weighing 62 kilograms, Atom mimics human arm structure with 41 degrees of freedom. It excels in full-body coordination and dual-arm industrial tasks, from factory work to making breakfast at home. Atom is already being adopted by top carmakers, electronics manufacturers, and coffee shop chains.

Industry experts see this launch as a milestone in robotics, ushering in a new era of human-robot collaboration.

Innovation Through Global Expansion

Over the past 10 years, Dobot has filed 1,365 intellectual property applications, including 981 patents and 52 PCT international filings, solidifying its position as an industry leader. It has topped China’s collaborative robot export rankings for seven consecutive years.

In the industrial sector, Dobot robots align perfectly with the flexible production models needed for smart manufacturing. In the commercial space, they are being used in automated drink stations, retail, and service industries, serving clients like Atour Hotels, Cotti Coffee, and various airports and border facilities.

In December 2024, Dobot was officially listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, marking a new chapter in its growth. CEO Liu Peichao emphasized that this IPO represents the start of global operations, with Hong Kong serving as a “super-connector” to integrate Chinese innovation into the global industrial transformation. Dobot is fully embracing humanoid robotics to lead the next wave of intelligent machine development.
